Going Bananas with Larry B. Scott

What do you do when you have 4 bananas that need to be eaten, rum, banana liquer, butter, brown sugar, vanilla ice cream, and a hankering for waffles? Bananas Foster Waffles of course! We had date night last night and the braised short ribs and mashed potatoes were a little more filling than we planned so the dessert was put on hold.....for breakfast. Let me just say that we need to open a breakfast place that features this dish because they were the best waffles ever. And yes, we made sure to cook off the alcohol so Will didn't get his swerve on.

On another note, you know the actor Larry Scott, who plays the gay guy in Revenge of the Nerds? Do you realize he is also in the Karate Kid (cobra kai), Iron Eagle (member of the eagles), and Space Camp (Rudy)? He was in some of the most pivitol movies of my young life. Revenge of the Nerds (in combination with Police Academy) was the first time I saw the female form in its glory after my parents told me not to watch it. I took Karate at age 6 and eventually became a black belt because of the Karate Kid. I also went to space camp on the tiny chance that I would sit in the space shuttle and accidently get launched due to a robot built by a young Joaquin Phoenix. And finally, Iron Eagle was just plain bad ass. If he had been in Rad, then I think I would owe who I am now to him as much as my parents. As it is, I owe Larry quite a bit.

Horns, Russians, and Walks

Hello there family and friends. All is going well here at the Trevino household. Will and Amy are still working on sleeping/eating and doing well. I am still working on figuring babies out, with much hilarity. I had a blast in California although felt guilty that I left Will and Amy back in GA. I must say that sleeping for more than 3 hours at a pop was nice. The game could have worked out a little differently, but considering Colt's injury, I'm happy we were still in it in the end. Let's just hope that Muschamp doesn't go to Tennessee. Here are some pics.

Amy bonds with Will during feeds, etc. and Dad bonds with him while killing Russians/Terrorists in Call of Duty on PS3. The staccato of machine gun fire puts him to sleep, although once he can see further than 5 ft, I'll have to play it alone.

And the last bit of news is that it finally got above freezing here during the day so we went out for our first walk. Got him bundled up and the BOB all loaded. It went pretty well with the exception of the both of us being out of shape (Will is too, but I won't blame him for it since he can't walk yet). Here is the before shot.

I was so lucky to have my mom out here with me while Mark went to the game. She definitely took care of me and Will from cooking, cleaning, feeding sessions and just relaxing. I definitely couldn't have made it with out her! I didn't think it was possible but since having William I am even more appreciative and grateful for everything my parents did for me growing up and do for me now. We love you Ra Ra and already miss you!

Mark's Push Present

We've been laughing that Mark's push present was to head out to the National Championship game to watch Texas play Bama. He flew out to LA yesterday and is there with my brother and dad hopefully cheering the Horns on to a big win. Will and I wish we were there too, but we plan on watching the game with Ra Ra and cheering loud!

Trevino Cribs

The nursery finally is starting to come together. I think my parents were a little taken back when they came to visit and only saw the crib in the babies room. Thus, we entered project Trevino Cribs before Will came to get it in to shape. I was being very indecisive and having my interior decorators here (dad & mom) we were able to make the room come together!

Day before Baby T's arrival we traveled to Aiken, SC and found a local brewery. We were able to pick up some local brew to bring back for Mark and Kris

Christmas Eve with Mom

Since Mark was working on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day it was so nice to have my mom and dad here with me to help celebrate. Kris, Leisha and Elle came out on the 30th, which was perfect because we came from the hospital on New Years Eve and got to celebrate the new year as a family with all of them. The hardest part of being away is not getting to see them so we cherish the fun times we have with them...here are some pics of our fun times together.

Hungry, Sleepy, and Wet/Dirty. A day in the life of a newborn

Still plugging along here with William and everyone is doing great. We are starting to get down the schedule (sort of) and even managing to squeeze in a few hours of sleep every once in a while. We are latching well, meeting the required number of wet and dirty diapers, and enjoying being spoiled by the in-laws.

The only real hiccup we've had was from some wierdos who apparantly troll blogs for people who have circumcised their kids so they may preach from their soapbox. Got a couple of posts from members of the anti-circumcision community who I guess don't like the "barbaric" practice. For your information freaks, we did use anesthesia, I'm friends/co-workers with the doctors who did it, and hopefully the nurses did wait until he stopped crying to bring him back in. I've seen plenty of them to know how long they take. I guess you and your anti-immunization friends will have plenty to talk about at your next meeting. Enjoy the balanitis, increased risk of HIV, and communicable diseases freaks. This blog is for friends and family members, not creeps who have to try and feel superior to other people by anonymously spouting out bs. Thanks to you, we now moderate our comments and we don't even read them if they are not from our friends so don't waste your time. You should probably spend all your free time raising your wierd kids and plotting your revolution against the government or something.

Here is a little tidbit from UpToDate: "The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) established a task force to evaluate the medical research, ethics, and other issues related to circumcision of the male infant and concluded that "existing scientific evidence demonstrates potential medical benefits of newborn male circumcision; however, these the data are not sufficient to recommend routine neonatal circumcision. In the case of circumcision in which there are potential benefits and risks, yet the procedure is not essential to the child's current well-being, parents should determine what is in the best interest of the child. To make an informed choice, parents of all male infants should be given accurate and unbiased information and be provided the opportunity to discuss this decision" [9]. They also noted that cultural, religious, and ethnic traditions could be considered in addition to medical factors, and that pain control should be provided. Although this statement was reaffirmed in 2005, the AAP is reviewing this position, given recent evidence of the protective effect of circumcision against HIV and other sexually transmitted infections." We have the info, and we made the decision. Stop commenting on our blog.
