Grandpa Doc

Grandpa Doc came to visit last weekend and we had so much fun! We miss our family so much that when they comes to visit we are on cloud 9. Will had gotten a stomach bug last Friday, which he proceeded to pass on to Mark on Saturday and then on to me. By the time Dr. Joe got here on Tuesday we were all feeling great and excited for the week stomach bug free. I love when Mark and his dad get together because it's fun to watch the two of them, they have a lot of the same mannerisms, jokes and I think Mark enjoys getting to talk to someone who understands his day to day routine. On Wednesday night Mark and Dr. Joe even got to practice together which was really special to Mark. Then the bug struck again and Will got sick. Luckily, Grandpa Doc was here to take care of him, but unfortunately the bug was then passed to Dr. Joe on Friday. Even with the bug we all had a great time and I know Will misses Grandpa Doc a lot. As soon as Grandpa Doc drove away Will started crying so I'm already looking for the next trip to get the Trevino men together again!

Had a great weekend with the exception of Will getting sick Fri and then me getting it Sat. Went to the Brews, Blues, and BBQs in Evans Friday night. Sounds cooler than it was but we still had a good time and took in some mediocre blues under the stars. Here is a video of Will being Will today. I wish I could say this is how he is all the time, but that wouldn't be truthful. He is only like this about 90% of the time.

We have had a fun weekend watching the Masters on the patio, grilling and enjoying the beautiful sunshine. Uncle Parker set up a little pool, so I've been rooting for Mickelson and KJ all weekend! I enjoyed our first Masters in Augusta and am sad it has come to an end. Luckily, I got some great pics of my boys to help me remember it and to help me look forward to Masters 2011. We hope to see you all here next year!

Yestreday was a great day! Mark woke up to an offer of 2 badges to see the first round of the Masters, of course we jumped at the opportunity (sorry no cameras allowed so no pics.) We sat on the 8th green and the 18th and had a blast watching all the players and patrons, especially our Emmitt Smith sighting.

Since I was taking off we got to spend some time with Will too before we took him to daycare and headed off to the course. He is getting so big and it's always a treat when we get to have extra play time during the week. Also, now the cat is out of the bag and we can announce that Kris and Leisha are expecting #2! We are so excited and can't wait to see if we will have another neice or a nephew in September.

Masters 2010

Since moving to Augusta, the one thing that everyone has said we need to do is see the Masters at least once. The course is located in the middle of town in between two random neighborhoods and two relatively busy streets. It is surrounded with bamboo and other bushes (not too well manicured) so you really can't see in and there are few signs to point you in the right direction. I work with an intern who grew up here and didn't even know where it was located until high school. It sort of has that "Secret Garden" type feel for me. So along came Monday's practice round and I took the advice of some people who did med school here and just parked (free parking) and walked up to the gate around noon. I can't believe how easy it was to get someones tickets (free) who were leaving and just waltz right in. Once you are on the inside, it is absolutely breathtaking. Every inch of grass or bushes are perfect, not a speck of trash on the ground, Tiger practicing in the sand 30 feet from you. A day we truly won't forget ever. Remember, our house is open to anyone who wants to come out and now with the apparantly easy to come by practice round tickets, you don't have an excuse.

Free parking, and cheap food. The sandwiches also come in green bags in case you accidently drop it, it will blend in. I'm sure another spectator would yell at you anyway. Even saw a guy put out his cigarette and put it in the trash. Amazing how much everyone respects this place.

Growing up Kris and I would pick wild flowers and make Easter egg nests for the easter bunny to leave us treats. I would put out a few carrots and water and the next day the bunny would have left us pressies in our nests. This year I told Mark and Will that they needed to make their nests for the Easter bunny (they did with pine straw.) They loved waking up to see all their goodies from the Easter Bunny.

Thank you Nana for the soft stuffed lamb and Uncle John and Aunt Becky for the cutest Easter Basket with eggs that have little animals in them to play with. The Easter bunny even spoiled Mark with a new golf shirt to wear to the practice rounds. I can't wait till next year when the Easter bunny brings his eggs!

I love checking out the Pi Phi houses on different campuses. Another one to cross of the list! We've now tackeled SMU, TCU, A&M, LSU, Baylor, Vandy and Tech.

Austin has painted guitars, Aiken, SC has painted horses, Houston has painted boots....so what does Athens have....painted Bulldogs!

After walking around downtown and the main strip it was time for libations! We love trying local brews.

With this being our first holiday without family, we decided to do a day trip on Saturday to Athens, Georgia (Home of the University of Georgia.) Since our time here is so short we really are trying hard to go and see all of the area. There are so many places on our list, but we've been dying to go to Athens because everyone says it's a lot like Austin (just a 1/4 the size.) We had so much fun and Athens is a great town (hopefully we will get back in the Fall for maybe a football game.)

Finally

When I moved here, all the locals could talk about was how hot and humid it was during the summer. I told them I just moved here from Houston, where if it were not for man made drainage, it would be a swamp...in an oven. Texas 1, Georgia 0. Then they told me how big and nasty the mosquitos were here. I said you have obviously never been to Galveston where the mosqiutos are the size of seagulls and twice as hungry. Texas 2, Georgia 0. When they told me about the pine pollen I thought there was no way it could be worse than the yellow dusting by the oak in Texas. Texa.....wait a minute. Finally, they are right about something. As I was casually driving down my street three days ago I noted that there must be someone burning brush nearby as all the smoke was hanging low in the trees. Well, when I got home and saw the fine coat of lime green pollen on everything, I understood that was not smoke. You can actually see the pollen falling like rain and if the wind blows, huge clouds form in the trees. Here are some photos.
