Friday Night Lights

Friday night we headed to our first high school football game to see #9 from church play! Augusta Christian won and I think Mark enjoyed reminiscing of his glory days with the Brahmas.
Will's favorite part was getting to run all over the field at half time. We also discovered he is still terrified of mascots, in tonight's case "Leo the Lion."

Friday Faves

I love John Daily's wild pants that he wears. Are they loud and in your face, yes! Is it something I invision Rodney D. in Caddyshak wearing, yes! Did any of you see the ones from the British open, very phsychedelic. I especially loved the pants he wore in Kiawah last weekend that were designed to raise awareness and funds to fight prostate cancer.
My new finds at Fresh Market
This Trina Turk for Banana clutch for that was going for $30 at the Banana Happy Hour sale. How cute with a white or yellow dress. The picture does not do it justice.

I'm loving the peter pan collars I'm seeing.

Just recently got hooked on Newsroom, I can't wait for Mark to get back to continue watching them.

Sisters are the Best!

You can be having a rough day and they send you pictures like these which help you make it through the day! I love these little munchkins!

On another note Will and I are starting to have some deep conversations. Today he told me I looked like a princess, which might have been the sweetest thing I've ever heard. He then of course followed it up later in the day telling me my legs are too spikey and I have too much hair on my head. I'm going to choose to just remember the princess comment.

The Band is Almost Complete

Yes, we secured a piano today (it may have been promised on Wednesday if he was good getting his cast and wouldn't you know he remembered today when he saw one at Target!)
Will was singing his favorite song We are Young by Fun, but by the time I got the camera he had moved on to working on his Christmas Album.

New Cast

We headed out for some good ole pizza to celebrate Will's new cast.

Mark said he picked the color all by himself. I'm not surprised as orange seems to be his go to color and the only one he consistently gets right. I asked Mark if any other color was a close second and he said Will thought about black for a brief minute, but then in the end went with orange!
I'm sure we will start signing it soon. I thought it would be fun to have all of Will's classmates sign it, and then quickly remembered they can't write so we may have to improvise.
The funniest thing of the day though was having Will's teacher's pull me aside and tell me that Will has been telling all his friends and their parents that he hurt his arm because Daddy dropped him. Not quite sure where he got this from, but thank god daycare and the other parents knows us and Will otherwise I'm sure we would have a lot of explaining to do!

1st Broken Bone

Last Thursday was eventful...Mark picked up Will from school and decided they would do some bonding at the playground while I dropped off some casseroles for a friend. Unfortunately, Will decided he would wave goodbye to some kids while on the swing and ended up tumbling backwards and landing just right on his arm to create a buckle fracture and a special trip to the ER.

At the ER I was amazed and blown away by my boys:
First, Will was a champ and had the nurses entertained. He was so good and was definitely excited to see where Dad goes to work to be able to buy him toys and stickers. Plus, he knew that Dad's work meant McDonald's ice cream so he was pumped and cool as a cucumber. Another bonus was getting to watch dad blow up latex gloves and pop them and playing with the buttons on the bed.
Will is still getting use to having a hard sling on, and we are working hard to not get it wet, full of sand, and covered in food  (If you know Will this is proving to be a difficult task.) The fracture should heal well and we will go back on Wednesday to see if we need a harder cast.

Second, it was amazing to see Mark in his element. I never get to see him at work and immediately when we walked into the Children's ER everyone rushed over to see how they could help Dr. Trevino. We were so lucky because so many co-workers in other departments stopped by to check in on us, our x-rays were expedited by Dr. Bill, the questions were streamlined, and so many residents who were on call just dropped in to see how they could help. A special thanks to Dr. John for calling the ortho guys and Dr. Paul who fitted us with our splint. We couldn't have asked for a better doctor, and such a small world that Paul was a fourth year med student who rotated with Mark during his first year of residency.

Friday Faves

Dream Fit Sheets- Mark's pet peeve is when the sheets come off the mattress. We tried sheet suspenders and they either popped off or left a hole in our sheets. Enough was enough...Mark ordered these babies and our sheets have stayed put.
This necklace is so cute (the pink tissue paper doesn't do it justice.) Did you see Michael Phelps' sister wearing it at the Olympics too? Really, this would be mine if I wasn't so indecisive (it comes in pink, orange, and turquoise) and I wasn't paying off a couch that is being made. For now, you can lust over it with me at the baublebar.com.
I'm ready for some cool weather and must have Fall and football on the brain. I scooped this up on sale at shopbop and can't wait to wear it. I envision myself in riding boots, jeans, and drinking bourbon while wearing this.
Come and Take It Tie
A fellow Pi Phi's brothers started a company called Paris Texas. I scooped up the "Come and Take It" tie for Mark for his upcoming interviews back in Texas.
Texas Orange/White
Lastly, I think I need these...especially since I've been hunting all week for my cheap Anthropolgie wannabe RayBans around the house. For $20 definitely a steal and in my price range in case Will decides to use them for batting practice.

Did you Know Gorillas Don't Eat Bananas?

Saturday we made our second trip to the Columbia, SC zoo. Will is loving the movie Madagascar right now so the zoo trip was perfect timing.
Mark thought this was entertaining....doesn't everyone go to the zoo to read on a carousel?
Moove over bears and lions: Will's new favorite animal is the giraffe...I wonder why?!
