Motherboy

I have been wanting the checked navy & white button down from J-Crew for a while. I have the orange and white checked one and I basically live in it in the Fall. So, I was pumped when a fellow blogger recommended the look alike one at Target in the boys department. Many thoughts crossed my mind: should I shop in the boys department, I really want to get one for Will too but will it be like Arrested development's motherboy pageant? For $12 I couldn't pass it up, but I did pass on it for Will (mainly because I don't think Motherboy would fly with Mark.)

Paco

My parents got a new yellow lab so Pinto could have a sidekick. I kind of envision Pinto responding to Paco like he did Will at the end of our Christmas visit: I'm not sure why you are here, you have worn me out, can you please just let me be.

We are loving our backpack that Aunt Lulu gave us so much, we haven't been able to take it or our coat off for an hour since we've been home. We like to put our lovies in it each morning so they can hear all the fun we are having at daycare. They also just started reporting to me if we bite our friends, we'll see if it works.

The Col.

Grandpa Doc came in town last weekend to visit! Mark swore The Col. was coming actually today so we were shocked when he called last Thursday to say he was at the airport. To Grandpa Doc's defense he swears he told Mark last weekend. I'm still unsure who got it wrong...let's just chalk it up to father like son and vice versa. Either way it was a treat to have him in Augusta!

Nuts & Noses

Mark was at journal club last night so I picked up Will from daycare and decided we go to straight to Chickfila for their superhero night. I love the Chikfila kid's nights and except for the cow mascot  terrifying Will it is always a good time. (I guess mascots for Will are like clowns to Mark.) While eating I noticed something black in Will's nose. At first thought-no big deal just a little dirt and boogs, next thought-is that a rock, then-what is that, it looks like it is a screw. So I quickly tried to diffuse the situation by buying ice cream and running home to get the sucker out with tweezers. I tried, worried, and stressed and couldn't get it out. Luckily Mark heard the panic in my voice and literally ran home and in three minutes got the nut out and headed back to journal club.

Billy the Beta

Will loves fish. Everyday we have to say goodbye to the fish at daycare and then drive by Rae's Creek to see the fish. On our Saturday outing to Petsmart, (yes we have no pets, but make frequent trips to Petsmart to see the animals, reptiles, birds, etc...I like to think of it as a mini zoo trip 5 minutes from home) after trying relentlessly to talk Mark into getting us a dog (insert Mark's response: I already have two wild animals in the house I'm trying to train) we decided to get a fish for Will. I had envisioned a fish tank like Candice Appel had growing up, it was the jam. Mark quickly reminded me of all the work in cleaning fish tanks and we decided until Will is older a beta is more up our alley. So Will picked out his fish and Mark and him named him "Billy the Beta." Well, Billy only made it about 8 hours and then went to magical fish heaven. I'm not quite sure how it happened, but I envision another trip to Petsmart this weekend to give it another try.

First, you must forgive me for my long absence from the blogosphere.  Work has been busy (sort of) but I have been lazy and Amy has been doing such a good job that I haven't really had much to say.  For those of you with young ones, you may be aware of Yo Gabba Gabba on Nick.  It is a show that has little puppets that come to life, a DJ that plays a lot of songs about taking baths and animals, and Biz Markie of the "You Got What I Need" Fame.  Sounds stupid, but this is the first TV show that Will actually will sit still and watch...for about 20 minutes.  Much better than our previous record of 30 seconds.  Now for you hippies out there without a TV in the house, don't get your tie dyed shirts in a wad.  We still have plenty of reading (this is a house of learned doctors http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ck23py3SNv4 ), and playing outside.  It is just so nice to not have to follow him around the house all the time to keep him from breaking "mommie's pretties".  So to DJ Lance Rock, I say THANK YOU.  And to those hippies out there, get a job.

2) The LSU mascot, Mike the Tiger, is kept in a pen in the back of the stadium. Before home games, he’s placed in a cage near the visiting team’s locker room to intimidate as they enter the field.
3) In 1958 (seven years before Gatorade was created on the campus of Florida), Bengal Punch was served to LSU’s team.
4) Legend has it that for each time Mike the tiger roars during a pre-game lap around the field is how many times team will score during the game.

1) It is said that Alabama’s Million Dollar Band got its name when someone in the press box said “your football is not very good, but your band is worth a million bucks.”
2) In 1930, an AJC journalist first used “elephant” to describe the Alabama team, saying: “The earth started to tremble, there was a distant rumble that continued to grow. Some excited fan in the stands bellowed, ‘hold your horses, the elephants are coming.’”
3) Coach Bryant never really liked the elephant as a mascot. He thought they were slow and stupid. Because of this, it wasn’t officially recognized as a mascot until 1978.
4) Bear Bryant claimed to have come back to Alabama (after coaching at three other colleges) because “mama called.” (In reference to the University)
5) Bear Bryant once said he’d “croak in a week” if he ever quit coaching. He died 27 days after his last game.

The one downside to being in Augusta is that we miss some big events (aka our friends and family having babies). What a treat it was to finally meet Sam, Mack &; Serena!
