Thank god for fat babies

They say that if your baby can clap at this age, then they are "advanced". Will is advanced at eating, sleeping, and looking good. Thank god for that. During the weekend, we can do the usual 7am bottle and then if we need a little more sleep, we can put him down for another couple of hours. I know we have it lucky just with the fact that he sleeps almost 12 hours straight through the night as it is. Sometimes we have tough weeks, and it's nice to be able to squeeze in a few more hours every once in a while. I think we got spoiled with a good baby so I'm sure he'll be a hellraiser at age 2.

Sock Monster

Will loves socks. It never fails that before we get to daycare at least one of his socks will be off, which then ensures a search for the missing one under carseats, blankets and the pack and play. The ladies at daycare tell me he likes to play the same game with them too. Here is how it all starts...
Did you see what I did mommy, where did it go?

RARA & POPO

What a great weekend, my mom and dad came to visit and we had so much fun. When my parents called on Wednesday saying they were coming I got so excited. It had been a while since we had seen them since our flight to Texas was cancelled and I was desperately needing some family bonding time. Mark was on call all weekend too, so it was nice having an extra pair of hands around. Will had a great time with Popo & RaRa and they wore him out. In fact, I am convinced Will will start crawling any day now after Popo & RaRa boot camp. We ate great, got some much needed errands ran and had a great time relaxing and watching Will play. Now we are counting down the days to see all the fam in Texas in September and hopefully getting to meet our newest niece/nephew.

Da Da

Yep, you guessed it- Will said dada this past weekend. He hasn't put together that dada is Mark, but none the less he said it. I was hoping that Will would say mama first and remember who was up with him every night for the first 5 months for night feedings, who sings silly songs and dances when he is sad and who loves on him every chance she gets. Since he hasn't associated a person to the name yet I'm going to still hold out that mama will be his real first word or at least his second!

Will's first piece of artwork. Yes they are his feet!
Below are all of his friend's artwork in his class. Will's is the first one in the left corner (the one without toes:)

Smile!!!!

Several people have told us that Will is such a serious baby...well the secret is he is a genius and the minute he sees Mommy or Daddy pull out the camera he immediately puts on his serious face. Luckily, Aunt Stacey got some great pics this weekend with her camera--Thank you Aunt Stacey, I think you brought out all the giggles and smiles:)

We Love Aunt Stacey

Stacey came out to stay with us this weekend and we had a blast! We love Aunt Stace and had the best time just relaxing and taking it easy. Thank you for coming Aunt Stace and we can't wait to see you again in September!
I love Aunt Stacey and can't wait to meet my cousin in January!

They Got Me

We are avid Sports Illustrated readers. Dub, Riggs, Stephen and Ross had sent us the heads up that Texas was going to be on the upcoming cover so I eagerly awaited Thursday's magazine. Then I opened the mailbox and found this. That's not Acho! 22 Days till Kickoff.

Do You Really Want To Hurt Me, Do You Really Want To Make Me Cry

I have decided that the worst job has to be customer service at airports. On Friday, we were going to make a quick trip (less than 48 hours) to Texas to see the Ehlert clan. Will hasn't seen Elle, Kris or Leisha since 7 weeks so we were pumped for some family time, bbq & mexican food. After three long hours at the airport our first flight was cancelled due to weather. Popo & RaRa tried to find us another flight, but to no avail there was no way of getting in. I was so upset I lost my cool with the poor customer service representative of Delta. I knew it wasn't his fault, but for some reason the lack of communication at the airport allowed my emotions to overtake me. Immediately, I apologized to him and started to think how much he probably gets yelled at during the day. No one likes to miss a flight or have their schedule changed, and while even I handle change pretty well I was even a bit saucy at first. It was a tough weekend not getting to see the fam as we were really looking forward to it, but we made the best of it attending my work party and having some of the guys over for bbq on Sunday. I guess this just means we will have to try and schedule another flight for a football game this season:)

RUDY, RUDY, RUDY!

This is one of our favorite pictures and one you have probably seen in our house. The picture is of James Street and Darrell K. Royal in the 1969 Cottonbowl game where Texas came back to win 21-17 over the Fighting Irish (it's also the last TX win over ND.) I have a love/hate relationship with Notre Dame. I respect them and their program. I have a friend who went to Notre Dame and his blood runs green just as much as mine runs orange. However, Notre Dame has beat Texas in 8 of the 10 meetings. I was there in 1996 when the #6 Horns took on the #9 Fighting Irish and I think I may have even shed a tear when they kicked a last minute field goal to beat us in the fourth quarter. I'm excited to see these two power houses on the field together again and I can't think of two more preeminent schools that are due to renew the rivalry. Looking forward to 2015!

T90X & Muscle Confusion

Poor Mark, for the last 2 months I have said I'm going to get back on an exercise routine. We ran together all the time in Houston, but since getting prego and having Will the workouts have been far and few between. I'm not proud to admit it, but I have found every excuse to not work out (I'm an early bird lets run in the morning, I'm a night owl lets run at night, it's to hot, I haven't played with Will, I'm exhausted, I'm hungry and need to cook dinner, I need to clean, Will needs to go down, the last 10 will fall off after I stop nursing--I really believed that one!) So to get rid of the last 10 we have ordered P90x from the recommendation of Heidi & JP. I have promised Mark that I will not scream obscenities at him while we are working out and that I will get focused and back into shape. No worries Mr. Cheese, Potatoes, Bread and Pasta... I will not be cutting you out of my diet entirely, but we may have less frequent visits.

Water Baby

Will loves the pool like his RaRa & Nana. After our first outing to Jeff's pool, we jumped at the chance to go swimming again. Last Sunday after church we headed out to the club with our next door neighbors. We had a great time fluttering around, Will enjoyed playing with Mercer & Charles and I got to try out the ole one piece swimsuit. Special thanks to GA & Syd for their recommendations and Lulu & Lala for finding me my cute spanx mommy suit to cover my battle scars. I'm not quite sure it makes me look 10 lbs. skinnier but I think it's probably better than most of the suits of the past (RIP speedo, zipper suits, james bond suit, suits with bojangles and flowers and neon striped tankini)
