Sunday Funday

What a fun Sunday I had last weekend. Mom, dad and I headed to Austin to celebrate Kris turning the big 31! The day started with a cooking class at Hudson's on the Bend. The class was amazing and the food was even better. I have included some pics of the Chef's house where we had the class and all the lovely ladies who were there to Fire it Up. Next we went back to Casa del Ehlert where we found Elle in her new pink crocs that Paulblo and Kris had bought her. The crocs were too cute, but my favorite pic is her outfit for Kris's birthday party. Happy Birthday Kris, we had so much fun celebrating with you and the Austin gang at El Chile.

Mark gets mower, hilarity (and a good looking lawn) ensues

After weeks of reading through product reviews, features, etc. I finally purchased my Toro lawn mower. Sleek styling, guaranteed to start in 2 pulls for the first 3 years, and a lovely walk at your pace feature make this the mower of my dreams. Got it put together (really just bolting on the handle), filled with oil and gas, and running in about 10 minutes.

Runs and cuts like a dream, but the walk at your pace feature took a little getting used to. It consists of a plastic handle that slides over the metal one. The further you push it down, the faster it goes. In theory, you should be able to just walk and the mower moves with you. After about 15 minutes of practice, this is the case. However, since the mower is a rear wheel drive and loaded with excess power, every time I took a step foward, the front wheels came off the lawn like a lowrider. I'm sure I looked silly with the mower jumping around in my hands for a while.

However, 6 hours, two bags of weeds, three bags of branches, two bags of lawn clippings, and some good looking edges later my lawn looked................. about half as good as my neighbor's Zoiysa you could putt on (the nice one that got me a weeks worth of fried chicken, mashers, and okra from WifeSaver) . Such is life.

Going to the Chapel

My best friend Caroline got married this weekend in Brenham. The wedding was beautiful and Caroline looked gorgeous. The wedding festivities were so much fun and it was great to see all of my high school friends and catch up. We love you Caroline and Wyatt and are looking forward to seeing the honeymoon pics.

Moving to Augusta Part 1

I made the big move to Georgia on Tuesday in a 26' u-haul with a trailer (with the Tahoe) behind it that topped out at 60 mph. Thankfully, my sister rode out with me to make the 15 hours seem like 2ish. I finally got to do some yardwork and plant a garden so the house is looking good and I should be a month from fresh veggies, even if it almost caused a heat stroke. Amy is heading out in a few weeks with her mom (that will be part 2) so I am trying to get everything unpacked before then. Augusta is hot, but beautiful and my neighbors are all very nice. I start up work on July 1st so say a prayer for me......and my patients.

Bun In the Oven

So the cat is out of the bag and most of you know that Mark and I brought home a little souvenir from our trip to Spain. However, you may not have heard that when I found out Mark and his dad were in Cabo celebrating his graduation from medical school. Four days later when he got home, I wasn't quite sure how to break the news. Finally, I decided I would cook him dinner: baby back ribs, baby carrots, baby squash and put some buns in the oven. The meal was great and of course Mark still did not put two and two together. Finally I broke down and just told him that the two of us thought the meal was fabulous, did he like it...and that's how Mark found out!

Float Trip 2009

The Summer of Mark concluded with a bang. For the 5th year in a row we had our kayak trip down a Texas river. This year we went down the lower Devils river (last year was the upper part). The river is north of Del Rio and empties into Lake Amistad after winding through a desert like area. It is spring fed with a limestone bottom so the water looks like it belongs on a tropical island rather than a Texas river. I'm already trying to figure out how I'm going to squeeze it in and get the OK from the misses for next year.

3 Years

It's hard to believe that it's been three years since Mark and I got married. To think it all got started by taking Human Sexuality our senior year of college! We have lots of great memories and are looking forward to many more.

It's Wedding Season

So you know how a lot of people talk about Hunting and Fishing Season...well being from Texas and a small town everyone should know that right now is WEDDING SEASON! My friend Michele brought this to my attention as she was telling me that she was trying to explain to her friends in New York why she doesn't have one weekend free in the Spring and Summer. Weddings are Mark and my favorite events, who can't get on board with amazing cocktails and food, rocking bands, fabulous cakes and of course all your friends and family around. That's one of my favorite things about weddings is getting to see your friends, because with everyone's busy lives if it weren't for weddings it would be hard to get together. Here are a few pics from the first part of wedding season, more to come as June and July approach.

Summer of Mark

So Amy has been giving me a hard time all summer about it being the "Summer of Mark." I must say I had one great summer, so I thought I'd share some of my fun adventures before I have to hunker down for the next four years. Dr.T

Last week was Mark's graduation. The whole fam came into see him walk across the stage and Dr. Joe even got to hood him, which was very special. We are all so proud of him and all his hard work over the last four years. Mark and I will definitely miss all of our great friends who are moving away to start their residencies, but are looking forward to future MED reunions.
