Brusha, Brusha, Brusha

At Will's 3 year check up we were asked if Will had been to the dentist yet. I knew it was something we needed to introduce him to, but had yet to do it. After pricing people in Augusta I decided I was not going to pay $285 for an x-ray or teeth that he was going to lose anyway. So on our trip back to Texas (per my mother's recommendation) I called up my old dentist to see if he could work Will in. I loved Dr. McCarty as a kid and was shocked to still find my bother and my's picture up on his wall of patients.
Will loved his trip and we got a great report of no cavities and great spacing!
So glad our first trip to the dentist was a success and I highly recommend Dr. McCarty to anyone looking for a children's dentist in Brenham! We may just be commuters from San Antonio for him and his great staff.

Dear Will & Knox

I know you will be shocked when you read this and learn that your momma is not perfect. I have made mistakes, but the best thing about mistakes is you learn from them and try your hardest to never make them again. However, there are three things that have been the best things I've ever done with my life: Finding and marrying your dad, and having both of you! I love you to the moon and back and you both are the reason that Mother's Day is so special to me.

Mother's Day Tea

Friday was Mother's Day Tea at Will's School. I was excited for my special time with Will, but instead he spent the whole time flirting with Miss Charlotte. She's so cute how could you not. I guess this was a good lesson for me to see how it will be in 18 years.
At least he is honest....I guess he could have said "Climbing Out Window"

We've Created a Monster

WIT (aka Whatever it Takes) is the motto that Mark and I use sometimes when we are at our whits end. This is probably why we introduced candy as a reward system. It has worked really well and has helped us potty train, do small chores, move a little faster in the mornings, and been used for good behavior when mom and dad want to go have some libations at a restaurant with the kiddos. However, these days it seems all Will wants is candy and all his actions are motivated by candy. I never realized how much candy is around kids. With all the holiday parties at school we have a constant supply of candy at the house and it's in every store or restaurant in some form. I'm pretty sure when we were in Charleston last weekend Will had non stop sugar which made us have an intervention with ourselves this week to decrease the sugars. So far so good. I'm sure we will regret it the first time we have a melt down and stick to our guns and don't give candy to defuse the situation, but I'll tell myself that this will help Will know that candy is not a main food group and that it's only for really, really special occasions.

Conquering our Fears

It's hard to conquer fears. Mark still refuses to go to the circus because of clowns and I still have nightmares trying out for cheerleader and having to do a back handspring. So when Will trembled seeing mascots I knew it was something we needed to work on since they actually pop up in more places than you think. Luckily, thanks to birthday parties we now like Mascots...still working on Santa.
Will loved Chucky Cheese and Chance's mom let us in on the trick to go early in the morning before it gets packed.

First Baby vs. Second Baby

When Will was born we were like most new parents: exhausted, overwhelmed, and worried about something new each day. I remember waking him up to feed, checking on him all the time to make sure he was breathing when we were sleeping, feeding/pumping 24/7, non-existent date nights, and being a complete hermit till I went back to work. Three years later Knox arrives and it's completely different. I'm not sure if it's easier because we know what were doing or if it's just easier this time around. Juggling two is definitely difficult with our crazy lives and moving, but we are definitely more laid back. No longer do we spend 15 minutes packing a bag before we go somewhere. Now it's 2 diapers in the purse, wet wipes, and a spare set of clothes. As mentioned, we were crazy with Will and woke him to eat to help him gain weight. We've learned our lesson with Knox. I also started this week (5 weeks) to supplement a night feeding with formula which has been awesome because he sleeps better and it helps me build reserves since I'm not pumping as much as I did with Will. Because I'm not pumping 10 times a day too, we've gotten out a lot more which has made me not quite so stir crazy and been great for those times we had to get out of the house for a showing. Lastly, we slowly are remembering all the tricks too that took us forever to learn (eg. pointing the wee wee down for less accidents and changes of clothes.) All in all I'm not sure if the second is easier than the first, but I think we definitely know more than we did before.

Now if we only knew who he looked like. Some days we think he looks exactly like Will and others we don't. I still can't tell if he will have brown hair and brown eyes or follow in my foot steps and be blonde and blue eyed. Either way, there is no doubt that the boys have a lot of their daddy in them.

On the Market

Our house is on the market! Of course once we put it on the market we had a few setbacks. The heater broke, we had to replace rotted wood in the front bay window and of course only the Trevinos would get fleas without having a dog inside our house. Our best guess on the fleas is that someone let their infested dog pee in our yard or by our mailbox and we tracked them in, or an infested animal got under our house (were on pier and beam.) However, all has been rectified and we are now getting quite sentimental about leavin/selling it. This was our first house we bought and where we brought our two babies home to.  It's where we learned a lot about oursevles and grew as individuals too. We have so many great memories here, it will definitely be hard to part with.
